Erik Clemons:

Executive Director and PresidentErik has an extensive background in non-profit management. Prior to joining ConnCAT, Erik served as the Executive Director of Leadership, Education, and Athletics in Partnership (LEAP), providing academic and social enrichment programs to youth between the ages of five through twenty-three.  Prior to his position at LEAP, Erik served as Director of Vocational Training, at New Haven Job Corps Center.

Community:

A lifelong resident of Connecticut, Erik is active member of his New Haven community. He currently serves on the Boards
of:

  • Cornell Scott Hill Health Center
  • New Haven Housing Authority
  • New Haven Legal Aid
  • CT Voices for Children

Additionally, Erik is the current Co-President of New Haven Citywide PTO (Parent/Teacher Org) and a member of the New Haven Public School Education Reform Committee.

Genevive Walker:

Director of Programs - Genevive has an extensive background in education, having proudly served as a public school teacher in the New Haven and Hamden Public School systems.  She has worked in the capacity of Executive Director and Program Manager for the Greater New Haven Help Alliance.  Additionally she has co-developed and facilitated the Youth Initiative Summer Leadership Program of New Haven for seven years.

Community:  Originally from New Haven, Genevive has been a Connecticut resident for over 30 years with some experience over time living in Florida, Pennsylvania, and New York.  She currently serves the XL Youth Ministry of Church on the Rock as a youth leader.  There she has also volunteered to serve in the Sunday School Ministry as a classroom teacher.


Stephanie Mallard:

Programs AdministratorStephanie has an extensive professional background in the legal field. Prior to joining ConnCAT, Stephanie served as the Office Manager of a downtown law firm which offered a wide range of legal services to its individual and corporate clients.

Community - Stephanie has been an active parent in the New Haven Public School System; currently serving as the liaison between her children’s elementary school and the New Haven Citywide PTO (Parent/Teacher Org).  She has been an active member of the New Haven Dimes Running Club (NHDRC) since 2010.  NHDRC is a group of non-traditional novice runners who share the goals of running for health and fitness and supporting youth through philanthropy.



Odell Montgomery Cooper:

Career CounselorOdell has had a successful career in Training and Development, IT and Project Management in corporate and Non-Profits. She serves as an Adjunct Professor at local colleges and Hartford Seminary. Odell has worked as the Program Director for the Green-Up Job Training Program at Mount Aery Development Corporation in Bridgeport. Additionally she has provided professional skills and development for entrepreneurs and business professionals.

Community: Originally from Boston, MA Odell has been living in CT for 24 years including New York City and Washington, D.C. Odell is a member of the CONECT interim Executive Team; Lay Minister at Mount Aery Baptist Church and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, New Haven Alumnae Chapter.

 


Jane Cravedi:

Medical Coding Instructor – Jane brings to the table 15 years of experience in medical environments; ranging from doctor’s offices, insurance companies, and hospitals.  Her expertise in the areas of medical coding, billing, customer service and insurance make her an ideal addition to the team.  She has spent the past few years providing training to small offices and teaching adults the Art of billing and coding.  She holds a certification with the American Academy of Professional Coders.

Community: Jane has been an active parent in the Charter school arena; currently serving as Parent Advocacy leader for Achievement First Hartford.  In this role she has spoken at legislative hearings, Board of Education hearings, attended rallies, and help organize grass roots efforts to further the cause.

 

 

Shukriyyah Miller-Hasan:

Phlebotomy InstructorBorn and raised in Connecticut, Shukriyyah attended Connecticut public schools and received her Phlebotomy training at Norwalk Hospital in the Department of Laboratory Medicine. Shukriyyah continued her educational studies at Housatonic Community College and focused in the theory of Phlebotomy and Psychology. Afterwards Shukriyyah received her Phlebotomy Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and (PBT). She also worked as an Electrocardigram Technician (EKGT) in the Norwalk Hospital Cardiology Department, which later included a position at the Norwalk Hospital’s Outpatient Laboratory (AMBULAB).

After moving to the Washington, DC, Shukriyyah began working for the Children’s Medical Center. She was soon contracted by the Children’s National Medical Center to oversee their Phlebotomy Laboratory Station at the Hospital For Sick Children. In addition Shuriyyah enrolled at Nyack College in the District of Columbia and concentrated in Family Counseling with Biblical Principles. In 2008, Shukriyyah retired as the lead Phlebotomy Instructor at Prince George Community College.

Community: Shukriyyah’s hobbies include Karate and Tia Chi. She also collects recipes and cook books. She is a Biblical Movement and Liturgical Dancer. Shukriyyah is a Reike Master in energy healing. She is married and has three adult children and eight granddaughters.
