Youth Summer Program

summer

ConnCAT remains a place of productivity and positive energy for youth during the summer months.Through our signature summer immersion, middle and high school youth from the Greater New Haven area are exposed to the artists, social context, and political issues surrounding a defining era in American history, the Harlem Renaissance. During this seven-week program youth:

  • Use arts as a medium to develop and express their ideas, concerns, and passions about the world, and work in partnership with local artists to create original art
  • Experiment with diverse creative media including: photography, digital media, music production, spoken word, dance, and drama
  • Explore the key happenings and themes of the Harlem Renaissance; in particular, the idea of art as a driver for collective consciousness, social development, and community activism

Thanks to the generosity of our funders, this program is offered at no cost to participants. Program sessions are typically held on weekdays, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at ConnCAT.
