The Connecticut Center for Arts and Technology (ConnCAT) is a nonprofit organization based in the Newhallville section of New Haven. Our mission is to inspire, motivate, and prepare youth and adults for educational and career advancement.

The primary function of the Administrative Assistant is to assist with the daily operation of ConnCAT’s programming by ensuring administrative and logistical aspects are in place. The Administrative Assistant will also provide support through a variety of tasks across the organization. This position requires some weekend and extended hours as needed.

     • Maintains academic records and files for adult students; including applicants, as well as prospective and current students
     • Organize and maintain files and database management systems in a confidential manner
     • Monitor office equipment and request repair or restocking when necessary
     • Maintain inventory and order office supplies
     • Provide front desk coverage as needed
     • Answer phones in a professional manner and direct calls or take detailed messages
     • Welcome and greets guests and screen for nature of visit
     • Performs scheduled and unscheduled tours of the facility
     • Facilitates information sessions and proctor’s adult program entrance exams
     • Completes ad hoc projects as assigned by Executive Assistant
     • Provides historical reference by developing and utilizing filing and retrieval systems
     • Take notes, record and translate meeting discussions
     • Demonstrates ability to interact with all levels within an organization


     • 2-4 years of relevant experience
     • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office package including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
     • Data entry experience
     • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
     • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
     • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects under tight deadlines
     • Great attention to detail
     • Must demonstrate high levels of confidentiality and integrity
     • Strong sense of accountability and responsibility
     • Must be able to work independently as well as with a team
     • Working knowledge of general office equipment


     • High school diploma or GED required
     • Associates Degree in Business administration preferred
