Jenna Martin is our Head Chef and Culinary Arts Instructor who has been on staff at ConnCAT for the past 8 years. Meet Chef J as she is affectionately known among staff and students. She is a gem and works hard to prepare our culinary students for success in the field.
ConnCAT’s Culinary Arts Academy is designed to fulfill the market demand for food service professionals. The program emphasizes superior culinary skills while producing well-rounded professionals equipped to enter the fast-paced environment of hospitality.
Adult learners who complete ConnCAT’s program will have diverse skills in the areas of food and beverage operations, entrepreneurial skills, baking and pastry arts, and advanced culinary skills. The program also provides training related to teamwork, personal accountability, communication skills, and professional development.
The ConnCAT Culinary Arts Academy will put the adult learner on the path to success in the hospitality industry. Graduates will have the opportunity to acquire their national Food Service Protection Manager certification while enrolled in the program.
This program gives adult members of our community a sense of purpose and professional self-worth, by providing them with a chance to learn in-demand culinary skills that will ensure job prospects and long term career opportunities.

Externship schedule determined by extern site
Externships allow ConnCAT students to demonstrate their skills, perform assignments
practiced during didactic training and function as a culinary intern. It is important to us
that externship experiences are mutually beneficial. Thus externship sites can
expect professionalism and productivity from ConnCAT externs.
Upon successful completion of the didactic training, students will complete a
4-week, 80-hour externship as a culinary intern.

The Jacques Pépin Foundation (JPF) advances Jacques’ love of culinary arts and teaching through video recipe production and curriculum development, expanding education and training for all. They provide grants and other resources to Community Kitchen partners, which offer culinary and life skills training, helping individuals detached from the workforce gain confidence, skills, and employment in the food industry.
